Insurance & Road Tax

11th Feb 2014

It have been a year since I got this PCX and I commute daily to work (est 60km) once a while I'll take it to a long distance travel around 400km.

No repair or upgrade been on this scoot, only changing the engine & gear oil on every service interval. I'm very glad with the choice I made between the PCX & VTS200.

The 1st party insurance + road tax cost RM 418.00, this scoot maintenance is pretty low RM 34 (engine + gear oil)  for every 3000+ km

The fuel consumption is still very good , 40km/l  (with pillion rider)

That is all for now :)

Fuel Economy

On average I was getting 39 - 40 km/l if I'm driving around 80 - 90 km/h, After riding for almost 3 months I've gain slight confidence and I was on my 2nd trip back to Ipoh from KL, on the North South Highway and the weather is good I was going around 110 - 120km/h and to my surprise the fuel gauge start to blink around 135km ( around 28 - 30 km/l )

I think for the PCX to get the optimum fuel efficiency is to travel around 60 - 80 km/h.

Speedo Vs GPS

12 March 2013

I've run a basic test with my phone running on GPS Status apps ( Google Play store), I notice that there is just a slight different in speed show on the speedometer & GPS.

On the PCX meter it should I'm travelling 60km/h while on the GPS it show I'm doing 52 - 54km/h. I tested till up to 100km/h on the speedo and confirm that vs the GPS speed report the PCX speedometer is showing +7-8km/h faster , It may go up to 10km/h faster when reaching 100km/h on the PCX speedometer.

First Service

Finally reach my first mileage of 1000 KM on my PCX. Took it back to Welly Subang to have it first oil change, the service guy help me clean the filter and replace with Honda engine oil.

It have been 2 week since service and so far there is no rattling or performance issue as some said on forum / message board.

I realize that I'm able able to go up to 100km/h much more easier, not sure is it I'm more comfortable riding a bike now or there is really a performance different :)

On the side note, I'm able do to 210 KM distance on my bike and it still haven't run out of petrol yet. But I didn't dare to go on further, it only took around RM 9 + to fill it up back again. Shell Ron 95 is my current petrol of choice for the momment.

Shell V-Power Ron 97 on PCX

8 Jan 2013

During CNY holiday I drove my bike back to IPOH :) it is a fun ride despite the hump does contribute to some discomfort.

I was able to drive around 80 - 100 km/h and I forgotten this is a bike and not a car; I need a fuel up in between the journey.

It was already on 70+ km on my trip meter before I left  Puchong, as it was raining while I reach Rawang, i continue all the way to Tg Malim for a fuel up and the fuel gauge bar is already blinking and I've done 195km.

The petrol station is kinda pack as it is nearing CNY holiday the station just ask us (motorist) go to a designated pump where there a guy ask how much i wanted to fill up. I just gave him RM 10 as I've travel more than 15KM while it started to blink. The pump overflow at RM9.60 (1.90 per liter / RON 95).

Continue back my journey back to Ipoh , to my surprise it only took 2 bar to reach Ipoh. Traveling around on PCX during CNY in jam pack Ipoh is awesome :) traffic is not an issue !

As it near empty I decided to fuel up with Ron 97 V-Power and see what different does it make. It doesn't do much more mileage it is more a less the same as Ron 95 but the only different is the power. Easily to 100-120KM on PCX despite I'm on the heavy & big (wind resistant lolx)

I guess next time when I'm travelling on north south highway (plus) I'll use VPOWER while on daily commuting RON 95 is good enough.

It took me 3 hours from Puchong to Ipoh (stop by to rest at Rawang, the Bike rain shelter at the Selangor  Sign and Tg Malim R&R)

While I took 2 hours 40+- mins from Ipoh to Puchong ( v power, rest at Tapah, and a bike shelter nearby Proton City)

To sum up, from Puchong - Ipoh , be prepare around 3 hours+ travel and the cost only RM 10+- (petrol), A super economical way to back hometown.

Met a lot bikers on the way back each seems like to have a story of their own. I guess everyone is enjoying the ride as I do. There seems I miss lot of stuff when I'm driving on the Plus Highway compare to riding a bike. At least I know that it stinks when entering Rawang area , must be the poultry farm causing the stench.

First Mileage

5 Jan 2013
After riding for almost 4 days the trip meter is now at 160km and only showing 3 bar @ fuel gauge.
At around 189km it drop to the last bar not sure will it go lower or not but I fill up and this time it stop at 4.13l @ $7.85
Let say I've travel 190km for around 4.9l of fuel it should work out to 39km/l.
Not as much as Honda claim but still consider not bad as I'm weighing at 120kg it does take some load.
